The PUTTMASTER stroke mat is held between two unbreakable pvc rails, approx a large putter width (140mm) apart.
Strike the rails on your stroke and you will immediately see if you are out of alignment!
(For advanced precision, the mat can be removed, trimmed narrower and reapplied to rails)
A white target line runs the length of the mat and has a number of precision ball placement spots indicated.

Choose a target hole, any distance. Align the PuttMaster target centre line with the hole (use a cord if required) and secure the mat to the ground.

Non or new golfers are able to control the putter head immediately and therefore get the greatest benefit, which is to stroke the ball in the desired direction
(invariably into the Hole!) without all the usual lengthy 'missed putt' syndrome/practice every learner seems to have to endure! PUTTMASTER promotes a putting action that sees the clubface remain directly pointing at the target, instead of changing angle on the take-away or the follow-through. This is called retaining a Square Club Face.
For putts under 4m (15'-16') its very unlikely that a huge take-away of the club is required, therefore, very little percussion upon contact is desired.
Changing the angle of the face during the stroke means either you have to be incredibly lucky to return the club at the correct target angle for ball contact, or you will have to be a mechanical robot!! A much safer option is to retain a Square Face target angle during the take-away, the contact and the follow-through.
