NEWS UPDATE - 20th May 2010
Open Weekend to be held – 5th-6th June
Following the two Open Days held in March and April, we are pleased to announce that we are holding an Open Weekend on the 5th-6th June at the Macdonald Portal, Hotel Golf & Spa in Cheshire – the home of the Lee Westwood Golf School.
Following the excellent levels of attendance at both events, recruitment is now well underway with a great number of talented young girls and boys joining us in September. Karl Morris, Director of the School noted, “ I am genuinely impressed by the academic and golfing achievements of the students joining us in September and look forward to working with them going forward. The programme is constantly having extra input added and will prove to be a very unique and exciting two year course, unlike any other offering in the UK”.

The Open Weekend will give all prospective students and their families a chance to visit the facility and have an informal chat with Karl regarding the programme. “Our school means different things to different students, but it is all about planning the future and succeeding in whatever pathway you choose”, said Karl.
The school is now recruiting students for September 2010 - to register your interest or for more information please email info@leewestwoodgolfschool.com or call 0844 879 3467

NEWS....
22nd October 2009 marked the press launch of the Lee Westwood Golf School
When he was 16, Lee's dad told him that if he got at least 5 GCE O'levels (he actually got ten) he could play as an Amateur for two years. When he was seventeen he decided to apply to a few colleges in the US and was offered a scholarship in Augusta.
As a talented golfer, you may already be thinking about how the sport will fit into your adult life. Understanding the importance of these choices, Lee Westwood Golf School allows you to keep many pathways open.
Lee has always believed in the importance of education and the part it plays in the development of the individual. His commitment to developing golfing talent forms the foundation of the Lee Westwood Golf School
The school will be located at the fantastic Macdonald Portal Hotel Golf & Spa in Cheshire. An excellent location that boasts 3 golf courses, driving range, separate school building and an onsite health and fitness spa, this will prove the ideal location for all those attending the school.
A partnership with Leeds City College will offer 16-year-olds and upwards, budding golfers, who have a minimum four GCSEs, the chance to combine expert golf tuition with their education, to study for a BTEC National Diploma in sport while progressing under the watchful eyes of PGA professional coaches.
Lee said: "I didn't have a plan B when I was younger, which is the whole point of this. There was nothing like this available to me and it will give kids some options and a good opportunity."
The golf school - for those aged 16 by September 2010 - will be headed by Karl Morris, who founded a similar programme in Northern Ireland.
Speaking at the launch he said: "I'm delighted to be the Managing Director of this exciting programme. I've been in contact with Chubby Chandler (ISM manager) for some years and launching this business was a natural progression."
"This will be the first dedicated, full-time educational establishment within golf that has the name and input of a golfing celebrity."
