It was a fantastic year in 2009, but, at some stage, you have stick it in a box and move on, but still feed off the confidence.
That stage was Abu Dhabi, but it didn’t work out to plan. There were a lot of variables during the week and my caddie Billy was right when he pointed out how ironic it was that at the stage where I was playing my best golf I had to change clubs because of the new regulations.
I didn’t have any problems with the driver, but the irons just didn’t feel right. I don’t know if I have the wrong shafts, but they just didn’t feel the same.
There was just too much to get used to especially after six weeks off. My game just wasn’t sharp so I’m now in the process of shaking off the rust and hopefully with a new set of irons, I’ll bounce back quickly this week in Qatar.
There was some speculation last year about whether I would take up my PGA Tour card, but that’s not the case although I will be playing three more times in America than I did last year.
I’ve cut out all the travelling back and forwards to Asia this year so that’s given me the opportunity to play the Honda, in Palm Beach, Florida, the Wachovia in Charlotte and the Players in Ponte Vedra. All in all it will add up to about 28 events for the season with Doral and Houston making up the regular Tour events over there.
I’m trying to ensure that everything is geared towards being in the peak of condition for the Majors because those tournaments are what we’re judged by.

Hmmmm...I'll try really hard to post a regular blog on the new site. Don't want to let the side down do I?
